Shridhar is a Remote Sensing Officer / Senior Adviser in Earth observation (EO) and remote sensing (RS) at the Svalbard Integrated Arctic Earth Observing System (SIOS), Longyearbyen, Norway. Shridhar leads the remote sensing services in SIOS to build an observing system in Svalbard. Before joining SIOS, he was a project scientist at the National Centre for Polar and Ocean Research (NCPOR), Goa, India, where he was involved in EO and RS activities in polar science particularly focusing on Antarctica, Himalayas, and the Arctic.

Research Professor Heikki Lihavainen is the director of Svalbard Integrated Arctic Earth Observing System (SIOS) since 2018. Before joining SIOS he was head of atmospheric composition research unit at the Finnish Meteorological Institute (FMI). He has also held positions as a visiting scholar at Johns Hopkins University and NASA Goddard Space Flight Center, research professor in atmospheric composition/FMI, leader of aerosols and climate research group at FMI, and senior research scientist/FMI. He has coordinated and participated in several EU and national research projects. He has published numerous papers on atmospheric composition, aerosols and air pollution and their interactions with climate.
